Artist Spotlight: Andy Mineo

Let's dive into the vibrant and inspiring journey of Andrew Aaron Mineo, better known as Andy Mineo, the dynamic force in the world of Christian hip hop. Born on April 17, 1988, in Syracuse, New York, Andy's journey from a high school producer to a music executive, video director, and much more, is nothing short of a rhythmic adventure.

Andy's early days at Henninger High School in Syracuse laid the foundation for his musical career. Here, he honed his skills as a producer and became a part of Fat Camp, a group under Syracuse University's Marshall Street Records. However, it wasn't until his move to New York City that Andy's life took a pivotal turn. Embracing his faith, he re-dedicated his life to Christ, a decision that led him to shut down his production studio and reboot his career.

2009 was a breakthrough year for Andy, as he released his first mixtape, "Sin is Wack." This was also the time he joined T.R.U.C.E., an outreach program, where he met key collaborators like Alex Medina and Wordsplayed. It was with Medina that Andy co-created the track "Background," landing a spot on Lecrae's Rehab album and marking his introduction to Reach Records.

Andy's journey continued to soar with the release of "In My City" in 2011, showcasing his unique blend of faith and rhythm. His partnership with Reach Records brought forth his album "Heroes for Sale" in 2013, followed by the EP "Never Land" in 2014, and his second album "Uncomfortable" in 2015. Each release showcased his growth as an artist and his commitment to his craft and message.

But Andy didn't just stop at music. He founded his creative initiative, Miner League, signing talents like Wordsplayed and Willow Stephens. Miner League and Reach Records' collaboration brought the world "Andy Mineo & Wordsplayed Present Magic & Bird" in 2017, further cementing Andy's influence in the music world.

Apart from his musical ventures, Andy has made his mark in video and television, with works like "Saturday Morning Car-Tunez" and "League Chumps Season 1." His skills as a producer are evident in his own tracks and in collaborations with other artists, contributing to Grammy-winning albums like Lecrae's "Gravity." His hit single "Coming in Hot" with Lecrae went viral and was recently awarded platinum status.
